Many organizations are good at collecting data. To make the data useful, an organization must turn it into the “right” information to guide decision-making. Senior planning and financial managers—if not increasingly having to do the work on their own—must, at a minimum, be able to effectively direct their staff. Planning and finance staff needs to be comfortable with going beyond the analysis to effectively communicate what’s important.

Join Susanna Krentz and Tracey Camp of Krentz Consulting as they help you focus on asking the right questions and thinking from different perspectives. They will present tips and tricks on packaging data to draw strategically-relevant conclusions; and provide practical group exercises and feedback with real-life data challenges.

Target Audience
• Planning professionals
• Finance professionals

Group Exercises
Participants of the workshop will be asked to provide, in advance, up to 5 pages of standard reports or presentations which are currently provided to senior management/Board that they feel could benefit from more effective presentation.* You may want to look at the following for ideas of what to send in:
• Demographic information
• Market share
• Utilization trends and service line profiles
• Financial presentations
• Competitor analyses
• Satisfaction survey results

We will start with presenting a few “before and after” examples, but then ask small groups to test their new skills by offering suggestions on how they would enhance “information challenged” presentations. This session will not require that participants bring a computer or have word processing skills.

*Interested participants should only send/share information that is “blinded” or which they are comfortable sharing un-blinded with the larger group. Material must be sent electronically to Donna Powell, NESHS Administrator admin@neshs.org no later than March 25, 2010. While an effort will be made to include all of the material received, we cannot guarantee your materials will be used.
